The battle of the bulge.

Weight is something that diminishes our self-love way too easily. I find that I am always kinder to myself when I look good vs when I have gained a few bulges here and there. At this very moment the bulge seems to be winning and the self love battle is trying to break through the negative thoughts that are trying to kill off bit by bit the hard work I have been putting in to grow spiritually. I am however determined to overcome this battle between my weight and my self-esteem because theoretically I know that my weight should not reflect the love I have for myself. My self-worth is not tied to my body…Right? Yet here I am 20 kg’s heavier than I should be and looking in the mirror gets tougher and tougher every time. Go to the gym you say? Yes, yes, I know only I can make the change that I need to overcome this body right now. Yet how does one continue to keep the smile on their face when the more you fight to push forward, the world seems to push back somewhat more to hold you back? My spiritual arms grow tired of the constant battle I seem to find myself in. Maybe I should stop eating carbs right? Exactly, as easy as that… In my dreams definitely!

The truth of the matter is, when you take care of your body then everything else that follows is just easier. A healthy body really does assist with having a healthy mind. Sometimes we can’t help what happens to our weight and actual issues like a thyroid problem, or certain medication that you have to take everyday blows you up like a blow fish and you have to choose between looking good and staying alive. In these circumstances I really think we should just give ourselves a break because it’s not always a controllable thing and the rest of the world needs to back off with the snide remarks about how much weight a person has put on especially when they have no clue about that persons medical history.

Here’s the thing people, you don’t have to be skinny to be taking care of yourself. You don’t have to be skinny just because you are eating right. Skinny does not equal healthy… Healthy equals healthy. So to all the girls out there that are doing their best to keep their health in check and to keep their minds in check, I salute you! Keep doing you, never let the outside opinions creep in when you know you are doing what you need to do. If you struggle to get to the point of healthy and you know you can do better, then put your big girl panties on and make the changes you need to see in yourself, because only you can accomplish all the things you want in life. If being healthy is one of those things , then you can’t just wish for it, you have to do what you have to do to accomplish it. I know you can do it. I certainly am doing the best that I can to make the changes I wish to see in myself. There is no better time than now to get your mind right, get your health right and get your happiness in check.

Live your life with love.
